September 1999

Congratulations to Lion Judy Rohling who was installed as a new member of our club at our August 19th meeting.  Lion Judy's sponsor was Lion Hazel Oberpriller.  PDG Lion Darrell Main performed the installation.

Donations were made to HLWW High School towards the STAR program and to the city of Howard Lake to help cover expenses from the GND celebration.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, September 2nd.  There will be a meal prior to our meeting that night.  Lion Bernie Rohling has volunteered to cook that night.  The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. with the meeting to follow.   Social hour begins at 6:30 P.M.

Our second meeting will be on Thursday, September 16th.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. that night.  Following the board meeting, there will be a meal served followed by our regular business meeting.    Both meetings will take place at our regular meeting place.

The Sixth Annual Heel and Wheel for Hearing and Service Dogs will be held on Sunday, September 12th at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton at 1:30 P.M.  If you are interested in participating,  you can either attend the next meeting(Sept. 2nd) and sign up or contact Lion LaNette Thorson by the 2nd.  Those members that participated last year all had a good time.  Let's have a huge turnout this year and show what we are made of.

Our Lions club will once again be bowling this season on Wednesday nights.  We do have five members who will bowl full time this season.  What we need is any members who will be willing to sub this coming season.  If you are interested in subbing, please contact Lion Steve Weber (543-3567--home # or 543-3471--work#).

The bloodmobile will be in Howard Lake on Monday, Aug. 30th from 1:15 until 7:15 P.M.  at the new fellowship hall at St. James Lutheran School.  GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE!!

Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating birthdays in September:  Nancy Main(15); Scott Werner(15); and Jack Oberpriller(18).
