THANK YOU
Thank you to the following H.L. Lions who helped Lion Steve Weber (5M-7
Gram Editor) with the labeling, sorting, and bundling of the September
issue of the 5M-7 Gram on September 3rd: Darrell Main, Nancy Main, Joyce
Thorson, Denny Massey, Duane Hass, Harvey Krohn, Vern Lemke, Mardell Lemke,
LaNette Thorson and Terry Thorson. It was very much appreciated.
Thank you to Lion President Tom Fiecke on the excellent meal at our September 5th meeting.
Thanks to all the Howard Lake Lions who helped out at the Troy Lange Benefit in August.
MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, October 3rd at our regular meeting
place. The local chapter of the FFA at HLWW High School has volunteered
to do the meal for this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. with
the business meeting at 7:30 P.M.
The second meeting will be on Thursday, October 17th also at our meeting place. A Board of Directors meeting will take place at 6:30 P.M. Lion Harvey Krohn has volunteered to cook and serve the meal for this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. The business meeting will take place at 7:30 following the meal.
Our first zone meeting will take place at the Delano Legion on Monday, Sept. 30th. Social hour is at 6:30 P.M. with the meal at 7:00 P.M. Twelve members of our Lions club will be attending this meeting.
5M-7 GRAM UPDATE
The next workday for the 5M-7 Gram has been set for Tuesday, October
1st at 6:30 P.M. at the Howard Lake Legion. Those Lion members interested
in helping Lion Steve (5M-7 Gram Editor) with the newsletters should meet
at the H.L. Legion at that time. If we can have a large group of
members helping, it should not take long at all. Hope to see you
there!
DONATIONS
Our club made donations to LCIF and to the local FFA chapter of HLWW
High School (to help cover expenses for eleven members attending the national
convention in October).
HEEL AND WHEEL
The 9th Annual Heel and Wheel for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota
took place on Saturday, September 14th at Long Lake Regional Park in New
Brighton. Four members of our club participated in the walk.
They were Lions Darrell and Nancy Main, Steve Weber, and Duane Hass.
Also participating were Trina Krohn and her daughter Mallory. Thanks
to all these people who took time out to help out in this fundraiser.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
Our Lions club has agreed to sponsor the Halloween party starting this
year. In years past, the H.L. Lioness has done it. The party
will take place on October 31st from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at our regular meeting
place. Past members of the Lioness club will be helping out.
More details will be forthcoming in the next month’s newsletter.
OCTOBER—GROWTH MONTH
October is Growth Month. It was suggested (by Lion Mike Main)
that not only should we try to bring in new members during this month,
but try to get some of our existing members to attend our Lions’ meetings.
We are hoping to install two new members into our club this month.
ROASTERS
Since our roasters have disappeared, our club decided to purchase a
new one to be used only at club functions and to be locked up when not
in use.
WELCOME BACK
We all welcomed back Lion Hazel Oberpriller. It was great to
see her up and going.
YOUTH/TEEN CENTER NEWS
We were closed most of the summer. Since school is now back in
full swing, so are we! This year, Lion Linda Amman will be in charge
of the center. Helping Lion Linda will be Lions Cathy Rufer and Susan
Grangroth.
We are planning to be open on Saturday nights from 6:00 until 10:00 P.M.
If you have any questions, please call Lion Linda at 543-2795.
We want to thank the Howard Lake Lions for providing us with a safe place for our youth in the community to meet.

Membership fees for 2002-03 is now due. The dues are $40 per
