Thanks to Lions Joyce Thorson and Dennis Massey for the great meal at our May 3rd meeting. Also, thanks to all the Lions who brought food for our potluck meal at our May 17th meeting.

MEETINGS
Our first meeting this month will be held on Thursday, June
7th
at our new Lions hall . This will be Induction Night for our new
officers. There will be a catered meal for this meeting which will be
at 7:00 PM. There will be a short business meeting at 7:30 PM followed
by the induction. The new officers will officially take over on July 1st. Vice-District Governor Elect Jim Mulroy will be performing the induction that night.
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, June 21st
at our new meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at
6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting. If you are
interested, please let Lion Steve know at the next meeting. If there is
no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 PM (7:30 if there is a
meal; please check the June 18th Herald-Journal). PDG Pat
Kennedy will be speaking on Leader Dog at this meeting. We are hoping
for a good turnout of members for this meeting.
SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR 2007-08
The club voted on and unanimously passed the following slate of officers for 2007-08 at our April 19th meeting. They are as follows: PRESIDENT--Gary Hagemann; 1ST VICE-PRESIDENT--Darren McAlpine; 2ND VICE-PRESIDENT--Cathy Rufer; 3RD

Gangl, and Karen Fiecke; MEMBERSHIP--Tom Fiecke, Susan Grangroth, and
Stephanie Jensen; LION TAMERS--Renee Lahr and Debbie McAlpine; TAIL
TWISTER--Mike Main; PUBLICITY--Steve Weber; PAST PRESIDENT--Tom Fiecke.
All these new officers are asked to be in attendance at our June 7th meeting.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Spring School of Instruction will take place on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:00 PM at the Spring Lake Park
High School. It is strongly recommended for any newly elected officers be in attendance.
District Awards Night will take place on Monday, June 11th at Blainebrook Lanes in Blaine.
The Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota will take place on Saturday, September 15th.
Our
scholarship recipients this year are Dan Kubasch, Jill Decker, and
Catherine Parks. Also, thank you to Lions Steve Weber and Cathy Rufer
for serving on the Scholarship Committee.
We
are looking for ideas for a fundraiser or a project involving four
Lions clubs (Howard Lake, Cokato, Waverly, and Montrose). Please bring
your ideas at one of our meetings.
GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
Good
Neighbor Days will take place this year from June 22-24. This year, we
will have bands, wrestling, pork chop dinner, and a tractor pull
(following the tractor pull help will be needed to clean up). We also
are asking that each member sell one book of tickets for the
four-wheeler.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 6th Annual H.L. Lions Scramble Golf Tournament will take place at Shadowbrook Golf Course on Saturday , July 14th.
Tee time is 7:30 A.M. This year there will be a pork chop dinner
following the tournament. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will
go towards Campaign Sight First II.
BIRTHDAYS
Happy
birthday to all the Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating their
birthdays in June: Steve Weber (3); Ethel Roepke (8); Karen Fiecke
(10); and Stephanie Jensen (18).
