MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, June 3rd at our regular meeting place. This night will be our club’s awards night plus we will be installing our new officers for 2004-05.The H.L. Legion will cater the meal that night.PDG’s Larry Kounkle and Ken Sties will hand out the awards.PDG Larry Kounkle will conduct the installation.All new officers should be in attendance that night.If you planning on attending that night, please let Lion Duane Hass know by the end of this week at the latest.Spouses and “significant others” are also invited to come.Social hour begins at 6:30 P.M. followed by the meal at 7:00 P.M. Following the meal, there will be a short business meeting.The awards and officer installation will follow the meeting.
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, June 17th also at our meeting place.There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting.If interested, please let Lion Steve at our next meeting so it can be put in the Herald.If there is meal, it will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by our regular business meeting at 7:30 P.M.If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 P.M.
Awards night for District 5M7 will take place on Thursday, June 17th at Blaine Brook Bowl.
DONATIONS
The Howard Lake Lions made donations to the following: (1) to a needy family to help for medical expenses not covered by insurance; (2) the Howard Lake girls traveling softball teams; (3) 5th & 6th grade tackle football league; (4) the H.L. Fire Dept; and (5) SLAM towards the purchase of t-shirts for new students and staff members.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our Lions Scholarship Committee has made their three selections for this year.The winners will be published in next month’s newsletter. The members on the committee are as follows: Steve Weber, Nancy Main, Debbie McAlpine (not Mike Main), and Dan Judd.
Membership fees for 2004-05 are due by July 1st.They are still $40.You can pay them in person by attending one of our upcoming meetings or you can mail your dues to: Howard Lake Lions; P.O. Box 13; Howard Lake, MN 55349.
Our Lions club will be holding our 3rd Annual Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 17th at The Greens in Howard Lake.Our first committee meeting will be held on Thursday, May 6th following our regular business meeting.Details of the tournament will be in next month’s newsletter.
A work night to clean up our meeting place will occur on Wednesday, June 2nd at 7:00 P.M.
Good Neighbor Days will be taking place from June 25-27.All the events have been set and ready to go.The only thing left now is help from our members during that weekend.If you are interested (and I hope most of you are!), please let Lion Mike Main know or just show up ready to work that weekend.Let’s have a large turnout of members helping that weekend!
SLATE OF OFFICERS
At our May 20th meeting, it was announced that Lion Cathy Rufer would not serve as 2nd Vice-President of our club.After the club accepted her resignation, it was announced that Lion Tom Fiecke would move up to 2nd Vice-President and Lion Steve Weber would serve as 3rd Vice-President.The club voted and approved the change in the slate of officers.
