January 2000
Thanks to Lion Gloria Wheeler for the excellent job of decorating our meeting place for our annual Governor’s Night/Christmas party on December 2nd.
Thanks to all the members who attended our annual Governor’s Night/Christmas party. A good time was had by all. Besides the Governor and his wife, those attending were Vice-District Governor Clay Storley and his wife, Lioness Chairman Kevin Schultz and his wife, Region Chairman Lee Casper and PDG John Edling and his wife. A special thank you to our Lion Santa(Lion Denny Frey) who handed out the gifts.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Melvin Jones Award, which went to H.L. Lioness Marcy LePage. District Governor Al Weise did the presentation. Lioness Marcy has been a very active member of our Lioness club. She has served a variety of offices in the club. She also has been involved in the drug awareness poster contest, helped out at the Lioness pancake feed, help hand out May baskets, chaired the concession stands during the softball tournaments(in which her late husband Al was in charge), and many other functions in the community. Congratulations to Lioness Marcy!!
Donations were made to Silent Santa and to the city of Howard Lake towards the congregate dining fund.
Reservations have been made for the Mid-Winter Convention in January. If you still want to attend the convention, please let Lion Darrell know ASAP and he will give you a form to fill out and mail.
If you are still interested in purchasing a complete meal book or individual meal tickets for the convention, you must contact Lion Darrell Main ASAP. He will then give you a form to fill out. This form must be mailed(along with your check) by the end of December(if you purchase after December 30th, the cost will be higher).
Our club will once again be holding a Chinese auction in the near future. If you receive any Christmas gifts that you don’t want and won’t return, please feel free to bring them to the auction that night. Also, any other items(no clothes please) that you have laying around at home that you would like to donate to the auction please feel free to bring them to the auction. The date for the auction will hopefully be in next month’s newsletter.
