THANK YOU
Thank you to all the HL Lions who brought food for our potluck meal at our November 3rd   meeting.  Thank you also to Mr. Weninger and the FFA for the superb meal at our November 17th meeting.  Thanks to PDG Larry Kounkle for speaking to our club about Youth Exchange.

Thanks to Lion Cathy Rufer for chairing this year’s Halloween party on October 29th.  Over 200 children attended the party and all had a good time.  Also thanks to all the members who came and helped that day.

MEETINGS
Our first meeting of the month will be on Thursday, December 1st at our meeting place. This night will be our annual Governor’s Night/Christmas party.  The meal will once again will be potluck.  There will also be a gift exchange that night.  Please keep the cost of your gift at under $10.  The fun will get started at 6:30 P.M.  Spouses and “significant others” are also invited to attend.  The fun starts at 6:30 P.M.

Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, December 15th also at our meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M.  No member has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please notify Lion Steve by the first meeting.  If there is no meal, the meeting will be at 7:00 P.M. (7:30 if there is a meal; please check the December 12th Herald)

Our club will be hosting our zone meeting on Monday, November 28th.  The social hour will begin at 6:00 P.M. with the meal at 7:00 P.M.  Reminder that if you signed up to attend the meeting and do not show up you must reimburse the club for the cost of the meal.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bruce Hoffman, an alumni of HLWW High School will hold a concert at Humphrey Hall on Sunday, February 19th.  More info will be forthcoming in next month’s newsletter.

Our club along with Waverly Lions club will be sponsoring our annual drug poster contest.  Judging of the posters will take place on November 30th.  Lions Steve Weber, Nancy Main, and Cathy Rufer will be the judges.  Winners will be published in next month’s newsletter.

MIDWINTER CONVENTION
Our District’s annual Midwinter Convention will take place January 20,21,22, 2006 at the Marriott in Bloomington.  Lion LaNette Thorson is once again chairing this event.

If you are planning on attending the convention this year, you must make reservations by no later than December 31st.  When making the reservation you must pay for the first night which is $85.13.  You can also purchase meal books if you like.  The cost of the books is $54 if you pay on or before December 31st.  The cost will be $60 after Dec. 31st. If you do not wish to purchase a meal book, you can pay for the meals you want to attend.  The cost is as follows:  Saturday luncheon--$15.50; Governor’s banquet--$25.50; Sunday Brunch--$16.  These prices are effective until Dec. 31st.  After that, add $2 per meal.

First place winners in the poster contest will have their posters judged on Friday.  Winners and their families will be invited to the Sunday Brunch.
