A big thank you to Lion Renee Lahr for doing a superb job on tail twisting at our Oct. 21st meeting.
MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 4th at our regular meeting
place. There will be a meal at this meeting, which will be at 7:00 P.M.
This meal will be potluck. Our business meeting will be at 7:30 P.M.
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, November 18th also at our meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting. If interested, please let Lion Steve at our next meeting so it can be put in the Herald. If there is meal, it will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by our regular business meeting at 7:30 P.M. If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 P.M.
Our next zone meeting will take place on Thursday, November 11th at the Legion in Maple Lake. The social hour will be at 6:30 P.M. with the meal at 7:00 P.M. If you are interested in attending, please let Lion LaNette know by our first meeting in November. Reminder that if you signed up to go the zone meeting and do not attend, you are responsible for the cost of the meal.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Membership fees for 2004-05 is now due. They are still $40.
You can pay them in person by attending one of our upcoming meetings or
you can mail your dues to: Howard Lake Lions; P.O. Box 13; Howard Lake,
MN 55349.
Our Governor’s Night/Christmas party has been scheduled for Thursday, December 2nd. More details in next month’s newsletter.
The MidWinter Convention will take place at the Marriott in Bloomington on January 21-23, 2005. If you are planning on attending please let Lion LaNette know by December 2nd (our Christmas Party).
Our club will once again be sponsoring a Halloween party on Sunday, October 31st at our meeting place from 3:00–5:00 P.M. Lion Renee Lahr is the chairperson for this event. We will need at least ten members from our club helping that day. Setup for the party will be at 1:00 P.M. Be there!
The Bloodmobile will be in Howard Lake on Monday, November 1st at St. James Lutheran School from 1:00 until 7:00 P.M. GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE!
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD ON NOVEMBER 2ND. VOTE!
YOUTH CENTER
The Youth Center will be open this year on the first and third Saturdays
of each month from 6:00 until 10:00 P.M. Families/guests and youth
ages 10 and up are invited. Lion Cathy Rufer will be in charge again
this year.
DRUG POSTER CONTEST
The Howard Lake and Waverly will be sponsoring the 2004 Drug Awareness
Contest. The contest this year will run from November 15-19, which
is in conjunction with Chemical Awareness Week at HLWW Schools. This
year, there will be two separate contests. Besides HLWW High School,
Middle School and Elementary, there will be a separate contest at St. James
Lutheran School. Judging will take place on Monday, November 22nd.
Pictures of the winners will take place on Tuesday, November 30th.
The first place winner in each age bracket will have their posters judged
at the MidWinter Convention in January. Lion Steve Weber is the chairperson.
DONATIONS
Donations were made this past month to the HLWW chapter of the FFA
to help cover expenses for their trip to the National Convention in Louisville,
Kentucky and to the Home Ec department at HLWW.
BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who will be
celebrating a birthday in November: LaNette Thorson (3); Lee Kaltved (7)—a
former HL Lion member; Dan Fogarty (8); Vern Lemke (16); Catherine Stenberg
(22); and Verdell Stenberg (28).
