GOLF TOURNAMENT NEWS
Our second annual scramble golf tournament on July 12th was a huge success.  We had 21 teams participating this year.  The weather also cooperated which made everyone happy.

We had two teams that were tied for first place.  They proceeded to a sudden-death playoff to determine a winner.  After eight extra holes, the two teams were still tied.  It was then decided that the two teams split the prize money and call it a tie.  Among the winners on the prize holes was Lion Dean Stenberg who had the longest putt on hole #9.  Also, no golfer had a hole-in-one on #7.  The closest to the pin shot was five feet away from the hole.

Thanks to the following tournament committee members for their all their hard work: Lions Steve Weber (chair), Duane Hass, Tom Fiecke, Dan Judd, Harvey Krohn, and Denny Massey.    Also, thanks to the following members (not on the committee) who helped out on July 12th:  Joyce Thorson, Karen Hill, and Darrell Main.

Our 3rd Annual Scramble Golf Tournament will be held at The Greens on Saturday, July 17, 2004.

MEMBERSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT
Our club will be holding a “members only” golf tournament at The Greens on Saturday, August 23rd.  Tee time is 9:30 A.M.  The cost of the tournament will be determined at our first meeting in August (it was $25 last year). The format for this tournament is the same as in past years.  You play your normal nine holes. We then draw for partners (out of a hat) after golfing is completed.  Partners will be then be determined.  If you are interested in golfing, please let Lion Steve know by no later than the second meeting in August.

After golfing, you are all invited to a pot-luck meal at Lion Mel and Renee Lahr’s house.  Even if you are not golfing, you are still invited to come to cheer on the golfers (they need all the help they can get!) and stay for the meal afterward.

Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who will be celebrating a birthday in August: Tim Oberpriller (13); Tom Main (17); Stan Roberts (26); and Stan Holm (29).
