THANK YOU
Thanks to Lions Julie Gangl and Bernie Rohling for the excellent meal at our March 1st meeting. Also, thanks to those Lions who cooked a delicious meal at our March 15th meeting.
 
Thanks to the Cokato Lions who attended our March 15th meeting. A fun time was had by all. We also shared some ideas about fundraising and what we can do together for a few fundraisers.
 
MEETINGS
Our first meeting this month will be held on Thursday, April 5th at our new Lions hall . The meal will be a potluck at this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 PM and the business meeting will take place at 7:30 PM. Also, we will be having a guest speaker--Lion Steve “Fuzzy” Halseth.
 
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, April 19th at our new meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting. If you are interested, please let Lion Steve know at the next meeting. If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 PM (7:30 if there is a meal; please check the April 16th Herald-Journal).
 
The next zone meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at the KC Hall in Waverly at 6:30 PM.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our club will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 1st (Palm Sunday) from 8:00 AM until noon. Proceeds from the breakfast will go towards medical expenses for Frank Doering, a senior at HLWW High School. Frank was critically injured in a snowmobile accident on Feb. 12th. Help from the membership will be needed that day. Please be there!! Co-chairs for the breakfast are Lions Darren McAlpine, Mike Main, and Terry Thorson (held @ our new meeting place).
 
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7th at Memorial Park in Howard Lake. Co-chairs for this event will be Lions Julie Gangl, Dan Oestreich, and Tom Fiecke. If interested in helping set up, please be at Memorial Park at 8:00 AM (help will be needed!).
 
Our club will be holding a garage sale during the same weekend as the city-wide garage sale.
 
Our club will be holding a fish fry sometime in September.
 
The Youth Center was to be moved to our new meeting place on Saturday, March 3rd. However, due to the snowstorm, it was postponed. It has now been rescheduled for Saturday, April 14th. Please meet at our old meeting place at 8:00 AM. We could use all the help from the membership that day.
 
Please contact Lion LaNette Thorson if interested in running for a office for 2007-08.
Induction Night for our new officers will take place on Thursday ,June 7th. The new officers will officially take over on July 1st.
 
Our club will be hosting a zone meeting sometime in November of this year.
 
The Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota will take place on Saturday, September 15th.
 
GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
Good Neighbor Days will take place this year from June 22-24. This year, we will have bands, wrestling, pork chop dinner, and a tractor pull (following the tractor pull help will be needed to clean up). We also are asking that each member sell one book of tickets for the four-wheeler.
 
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 6th Annual H.L. Lions Scramble Golf Tournament will take place at Shadowbrook Golf Course on Saturday , July 14th. Tee time is 7:30 A.M. This year there will be a pork chop dinner following the tournament. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards Sight First II.
 
BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to all the Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating their birthdays in April: Tom Fiecke (5); and Duane Hass (27).
