THANK YOU

Thanks to Lions Bernie Rohling and Julie Gangl for the wonderful meal at our March 2nd meeting.  Also, thanks to Lion Darrell Main for the excellent meal at our Feb. 16th meeting.  Special thanks to Lion Renee Lahr for the dessert and to Lion Nancy Main for serving and for cleaning 65 pots!

Thanks to Lion Harvey Krohn who made a Lion out of the wood in the van.  Lion Mike Main presented the wooden Lion to the club at our March 2nd meeting.
 
MEETINGS
Our first meeting of the month will be on Thursday, April 6th at our meeting place. There will also be a meal that night.  Karen Erickson representing the group, Kids Against Hunger, will be cooking the meal.  The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. with the meeting at 7:30 P.M.
 
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, April 20th also at our meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M.  No member has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please notify Lion Steve by the first meeting.  If there is no meal, the meeting will be at 7:00 P.M. (7:30 if there is a meal; please check the April 17th Herald)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Howard Lake Lions will host a pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 9th (Palm Sunday) at the Howard Lake Legion.  The hours are 8:00 AM until noon.  Setup will begin at 6:30 AM.  Lion Tom Fiecke is the chairperson.  Proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to Judy Mattson.

On Saturday, April 15th, the H.L. Lions will sponsor their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Memorial Park in Howard Lake beginning at 10:00 AM.  We will be stuffing the eggs after the April 6th meeting. Any Lion interested in helping will be greatly appreciated. Lion Duane Hass will be the chairperson.

The Annandale Lions will host the next zone meeting on April 24th.   It will be held at the Annandale Park Pavilion; located north of Highway 55 on Oak Street (Hwy 24).

The USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum will be held September 14-16, 2006 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Multiple Convention will be held April 28th thru April 30th in Rochester, MN.

The 2006 Lions Tours for the 5M Hearing Center will be held on April 1st and September 30th.

The “Walk for Sight” will be held on Sunday, April 23rd at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis.  The walk is to raise funds for “Campaign Sight First II.” More info will be found on a separate page in the newsletter.  Any member interested in participating should contact Lion LaNette Thorson.

A member of the Methodist Church approached Lion Terry Thorson about the possibility of donating their building to our club. More info will be available at a later date.

GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
Raffle tickets for the four-wheeler are now out.  Please contact Lion Tom Fiecke if you want some.

The Howard Lake Lions will host a pancake breakfast just prior to the fishing contest during Good Neighbor Days in June.

Musical group “Deep Fried Tweeters” are booked for Saturday night of GND.

The following slate of officers for the upcoming year was presented to the club: PRESIDENT—Tom Fiecke; 1ST VICE-PRES.—Steve Weber; 2ND VICE PRES.—Jeremy Kadlec; 3RD VICE-PRES.—Cathy Rufer; SECRETARY—LaNette Thorson; TREASURER—Terry Thorson; DIRECTORS—Harvey Krohn  and Mike Main (1 year); Julie Gangl and Karen Fiecke (2 years); MEMBERSHIP: Darrell Main (chair), Susan Grangroth, and Denise Oberpriller; GAMBLING—Darren McAlpine (1 year), Renee Lahr (2 years); Bernie Rohling (3 years); TAIL TWISTER—Duane Hass; LION TAMERS—Debbie McAlpine and Renee Lahr; PUBLICITY—Steve Weber; PAST-PRESIDENT—Catherine Stenberg.  Any Lion interested in running for any of the above offices may do so but they must declare their candidacy by the first meeting in April.   Serving on the Nominations Committee this year are Lions Duane Hass, Tom Fiecke, and LaNette Thorson.

DONATIONS
Our club donated to the Junior Olympic Volleyball team with the stipulation that they help with a future fund raiser.

BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who will be celebrating a birthday
in April: Tom Fiecke (5) and Duane Hass (27).
