THANK YOU
Thanks to Lions Renee Lahr and Joyce Thorson for the excellent meal at our September 2nd  meeting.  Also, thanks Lions Mike and Kathy Main and Dan and Erin Judd for the delicious meal at our September 16th meeting.

MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, October 7th at our regular meeting place. There will be a meal at this meeting which will be at 7:00 P.M. Lions Darren and Debbie McAlpine have volunteered to cook for this meeting. Our business meeting will be at 7:30 P.M.

Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, October 21st also at our meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please let Lion Steve at our next meeting so it can be put in the Herald.  If there is meal, it will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by our regular business meeting at 7:30 P.M.  If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 P.M.

Our first zone meeting of the year will take place on Monday, September 27th at Waverly KC Hall.  The social hour will be at 6:30 P.M. with the meal at 7:00 P.M.  Reminder that if you signed up to go the zone meeting and do not attend, you are responsible for the cost of the meal.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Membership fees for 2004-05 is now due.  They are still $40.  You can pay them in person by attending one of our upcoming meetings or you can mail your dues to: Howard Lake Lions; P.O. Box 13; Howard Lake, MN 55349.

Governor’s night has been scheduled for Thursday, December 2nd.

The annual Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota took place on Saturday, September 18th at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton. Lions Steve Weber and Duane Hass and his wife Trina represented our Lions club.  There were 157 walkers at the event.  The amount that was raised among the walkers was over $43,000.  If you include the sponsor donations the total amount raised was over $52,000 which was up over $16,000 from a year ago.  Among the winners in the drawings after the walk was Trina Hass who won a DVD player.

Our zone chairman, Lion Brian Manson, was in attendance at our September 2nd meeting.

BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who will be celebrating a birthday in October: Elwood Engel (8); Jason Mapes (14); Mardell Lemke (18); Susan Grangroth (20); and Chris Bickmann (23).
