Sept. 2002

THANK YOU
Thank you to the following H.L. Lions who helped Lion Steve Weber (5M-7 Gram Editor) with the labeling, sorting, and bundling of the July/August issues of the 5M-7 Gram on July 29th: Darrell Main, Nancy Main, Joyce Thorson, Denny Massey, Duane Hass, Harvey Krohn, and Terry Thorson.  It was very much appreciated.

Thank you to all the members who entered our “Members Only” Golf Tournament on August 17th.  Also, thanks to Lions Mel and Renee Lahr, Joyce Thorson and Denny Massey for the meat and the grilling. Thanks to all the members who brought food for the potluck after the golfing.  A good time was had by all.  Also, thanks to Lions Mel and Renee for the use of their residence.

MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, September 5th at our regular meeting place.  Our Lion President, Tom Fiecke has volunteered to do the meal for this meeting.  The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. with the business meeting at 7:30 P.M.   Following this meeting, there will be a Melvin Jones Fellows meeting.  If you are member of this elite group, please be there!

The second meeting will be on Thursday, September 19th also at our meeting place.  A Board of Directors meeting will take place at 6:30 P.M.  No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested in this one, please let Lion Steve know by the Sept. 5th meeting.  The business meeting will take place at 7:00 (without a meal) and 7:30 following the meal.
Starting with this meeting, there will be a work night after each 2nd meeting of the month.  We will be giving our meeting place a good cleaning.   This will not take long if enough members are helping.

MISSING ROASTERS
Our club owns three roasters that we have used for our meals and other functions.  As of now, we have only one up at our meeting place.  If you have them or know someone who does, PLEASE RETURN THEM BACK TO OUR MEETING PLACE ASAP! (No questions asked!)  Thank you.

5M-7 GRAM UPDATE
The next workday for the 5M-7 Gram has been set for Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30 P.M. at the Howard Lake Legion. Those Lion members interested in helping Lion Steve (5M-7 Gram Editor) with the newsletters should meet at the H.L. Legion at that time.  If we can have a large group of members helping, it should not take long at all.  Hope to see you there!

DONATIONS
Our club made donations to the Red Cross-Wright County Chapter and to the HLWW High School marching band towards the purchase of new uniforms.

HEEL AND WHEEL
The 9th Annual Heel and Wheel for Service Dogs of Minnesota will take place on Saturday, September 14th at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton.  The walk itself starts at 11:30 A.M.  The details of the walk are in the July/August issue and will be in the September issue of the 5M-7 Gram.  If interested, please sign up at our next meeting on September 5th.  Lion Darrell Main is the chair.  Let’s have a large turnout of H.L. Lions at this fundraiser.
