THANK YOU
Thank you to all the HL Lions who brought food for our potluck meal at our October 6th meeting.  Thank you also to Lion Darren McAlpine for the absolutely delicious meal at our October 20th meeting.

Our first meeting of the month will be on Thursday, November 3rd at our meeting place. This will be a dinner meeting.  The meal for this meeting will be served by the local chapter of the FFA at HLWW High School.  The meal will be at 7:00 P.M.  The business meeting will take place at 7:30 P.M.

Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, November 17th  also at our meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M.  No member has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please notify Lion Steve by the first meeting.  If there is no meal, the meeting will be at 7:00 P.M. (7:30 if there is a meal; please check the November 14th  Herald)

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our club will be hosting the next zone meeting on Monday, November 28th.  Any member interested in attending should let Lion Lanette know at one of the meetings this month.  Also, our annual Governor’s Night/Christmas party will be on Thursday, December 1st.  More details on this event will be forthcoming in future newsletters.

We donated to the local chapter of the FFA at HLWW High School to help cover expenses for their national convention.

The Howard Lake Lions will once again sponsored a Halloween party at our meeting place on Saturday, October 29th from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M.  Any help from the membership would be greatly appreciated that day.  Please be there by 2:30 P.M. that day.

YOUTH CENTER NEWS
The youth center staff would like to thank Marcy LePage for donating a DVD/VCR player to the youth center.

SIGHT NIGHT
The 3rd Annual Sight Night is under way.  Plastic pumpkins have been placed out in the community businesses to make folks aware that the Lions are collecting glasses.  Notices will be going out in the local papers and notes are being sent home with students in school reminding them to collect glasses and bring them to drop-off sites or to the Halloween party on October 29th.  A prize will be given to the guest who brings the most glasses in that night.  Hopefully this will encourage another outreach in our community that sparks human interest and the Lionism spirit that we are all fond of.
