THANK YOU
Thanks to all the Lions who brought food for our potluck meal at our April 5th meeting. Also, thanks to Lions Cathy Rufer, Susan Grangroth, and Charles Engels for the superb meal at our April 19th meeting.
Thanks to all the Howard Lake Lions and the students from the FFA and SLAM who helped on April 14th with the move of the Youth Center from our meeting place to the upstairs in our new meeting place.
 
MEETINGS
Our first meeting this month will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at our new Lions hall . The meal will be done by Lions Joyce Thorson and Dennis Massey at this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 PM and the business meeting will take place at 7:30 PM. Also, we will be having a guest speaker--Lion Clay O’Flanagan who will speak on meth.
 
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, May 17th at our new meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting. If you are interested, please let Lion Steve know at the next meeting. If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 PM (7:30 if there is a meal; please check the May 14th Herald-Journal). We will also have a guest speaker for this meeting also--PDG Pat Kennedy will speak on Leader Dog.
 
SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR 2007-08
The club voted on and unanimously passed the following slate of officers for 2007-08 at our April 19th meeting. They are as follows: PRESIDENT--Gary Hagemann; 1ST VICE-PRESIDENT--Darrell Main; 2ND VICE-PRESIDENT--Cathy Rufer; 3RD VICE-PRESIDENT--Duane Hass; SECRETARY--LaNette Thorson; TREASURER--Terry Thorson; DIRECTORS--Nancy Main, Dan Oestreich, Julie Gangl, and Karen Fiecke; MEMBERSHIP--Tom Fiecke, Susan Grangroth, and Stephanie Jensen; LION TAMERS--Renee Lahr and Debbie McAlpine; TAIL TWISTER--Mike Main; PUBLICITY--Steve Weber; PAST PRESIDENT--Tom Fiecke.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Spring School of Instruction will take place on Thursday, May 31st at 6:00 PM at the Spring Lake Park High School. It is strongly recommended for any newly elected officers be in attendance.
 
Induction Night for our new officers will take place on Thursday ,June 7th. The new officers will officially take over on July 1st. Vice-District Governor Elect Jim Mulroy will be performing the induction that night.
 
District Awards Night will take place on Monday, June 11th at Lanebrook Lanes in Anoka.
 
The Lions Walk for Sight (a fund raiser for Campaign Sight First II) will take place at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 5th in Brooklyn Park. A registration form can be found in the March edition of the 5M7 Gram.
 
Our club will be hosting a zone meeting sometime in November of this year
.
The Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota will take place on Saturday, September 15th
.
Profits from the Bruce Hoffman concert back in February will be distributed to Lions Quest at HLWW Schools, SLAM, and the FFA. Also, proceeds from the pancake breakfast on April 1st will go towards the family of Frank Doering to help cover expenses.
 
GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS
Good Neighbor Days will take place this year from June 22-24. This year, we will have bands, wrestling, pork chop dinner, and a tractor pull (following the tractor pull help will be needed to clean up). We also are asking that each member sell one book of tickets for the four-wheeler.
 
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 6th Annual H.L. Lions Scramble Golf Tournament will take place at Shadowbrook Golf Course on Saturday , July 14th. Tee time is 7:30 A.M. This year there will be a pork chop dinner following the tournament. The proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards Campaign Sight First II.
 
BIRTHDAYS
Happy birthday to all the Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating their birthdays in May: Charles Engels (12); Paul Schmitz (16); Curt Levang (17); and Renee Lahr (17).
