THANK YOU

Thanks to Lions Mike Main, Dan Judd, Darren McAlpine, Harvey Krohn, Terry & LaNette Thorson, Renee Lahr, and Joyce Thorson for their hard work and fine food at the fish fry at our April 1st meeting.  Also, thanks to Lions Darren and Debbie McAlpine for the excellent meal at our April 15th meeting.  Special thanks are in order to Tom and Lori Fletcher.
Thanks to PDG Gary Johnson on his presentation on the LCIF.
Thanks to following H.L. Lion members who attended the zone meeting in Montrose on April 5th: Darrel Main, Nancy Main, LaNette Thorson, Renee Lahr, Tom Fiecke, Karen Fiecke, Steve Weber, and Dan Judd.
MEETINGS
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, May 6th at our regular meeting place. Lions Mike Main and Dan Judd will be our cooks that night. The meal will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by our regular business meeting will be at 7:30 P.M.  PDG Ken Rousch will be our guest speaker at this meeting.  He will be speaking about the Spinoza Bear and Lion pins.
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, May 20th also at our meeting place.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. No one has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please let Lion Steve at our next meeting so it can be put in the Herald.  If there is meal, it will be at 7:00 P.M. followed by our regular business meeting at 7:30 P.M.  If there is no meal, the business meeting will be at 7:00 P.M.
The next GND meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 21st at 7:00 P.M. at the fire hall.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our Lions club’s annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 4th at the Howard Lake Legion was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.  It has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 25th at the H.L. Legion with the hours from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.  Any help from our membership will be very much appreciated.
Our Lions Scholarship Committee has been set for this year.  They are as follows: Steve Weber, Nancy Main, Mike Main, and Dan Judd.
Membership fees for 2004-05 is now due.  They are still $40.  You can pay them in person by attending one of our upcoming meetings or you can mail your dues to: Howard Lake Lions; P.O. Box 13; Howard Lake, MN 55349.
Our Lions Club received four vouchers (two tickets per voucher) for a 2004 Twins game.  This came as a result of raising the most money at the Heel-n-Wheel fundraiser for the Hearing and Service Dogs last September. We will be going to the April 30th game (vs. Anaheim).  Two vouchers have already been spoken for and the club is looking for any other members who are interested in attending.  If interested in going on April 30th, please contact Lion Steve Weber at 320-543-3567(H) or 543-3471(W).  We will be leaving from our meeting place door at 5:15 P.M.
Our Lions club will be holding our 3rd Annual Scramble Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 17th at The Greens in Howard Lake.  Our first committee meeting will be held on Thursday, May 6th following our regular business meeting.
Our next Highway 12 cleanup (just west of HL) will take place on Saturday, May 1st.  Those members wanting to help that day should meet at our meeting place at 8:00 A.M.  We would like to have at least six to eight members to help that day.
EASTER EGG HUNT
On Saturday, April 10th, our Lions club will be held our annual Easter Egg Hunt out at Memorial Park in Howard Lake.  Thanks to Lion Duane Hass for being the chairperson for this event.  Those Lions who helped with the egg stuffing and the events on April 10th are as follows: Harvey Krohn, Steve Weber, Vern Lemke, Mardell Lemke, Denny Massey, Joyce Thorson, Darrell Main, Nancy Main, Mike Main, Paul Schmitz, Hazel Oberpriller, Dean Stenberg, Catherine Stenberg, Verdell Stenberg, Bernie Rohling, Tom Fiecke, Karen Fiecke and Renee Lahr.
CONDOLENCES
Our sympathies go out to Lion Steve Weber on the passing of his mother, Lorraine Weber.
Lorraine helped Lion Steve with our newsletters by labeling and stamping the newsletters on a regular basis until her health no longer allowed her to assist. In lieu of flowers, the club made a donation to the Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota in memory of Lion Steve’s mother.
