Thanks to Lion Vern Lemke and all the Howard Lake Lion members who helped out at our Lions Bingo event on Sunday, April 16th at the H. L. Legion.  A good time was had by all.

A big, big, thank you goes out to Lion Dan Oestreich for all his hard work at putting together our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 22nd at Memorial Park in Howard Lake.  Lion Dan would like to thank all the Lions who came out on a gorgeous Saturday morning to help out.  It was very much appreciated.  A total of 220 children ranging from three months to twelve years of age were in attendance.

Also, thanks to Lion Dan for chairing the golden Easter Egg Hunt  contest  which ran in the Howard Lake Herald during late March and early April.  The egg was eventually found by three junior high boys behind the scoreboard at Memorial Park next to a tree.

Our Lions bowling team completed another season.  We weren’t as successful as last year but we still had a good time.  Thanks to the following members who bowled this past season:  Lions Duane Hass, Steve Weber, LeRoy Bren, Tim Oberpriller, Bernie Rohling, Dean Stenberg, Glenn Behrends, Chris Bickmann, Scott Werner, Roy Klugow, and Vern Lemke.  We will be having a team next season.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, May 4th at our regular meeting place.  Social hour is at 6:30 P.M.  Lion Bernie Rohling will be cooking and serving the meal that night at 7:00 P.M.   A short business meeting will take place after the meal.   Following the meeting, our Chinese auction will be taking place.  If you have anything to donate(except clothes), they must be dropped off to Lions Jason Mapes, Duane Hass, or Terry Thorson by no later than April 30th.

Our second meeting will take place on Thursday, May 18th at our regular meeting place.  A Board of Directors meeting will take place at 6:30 P.M.  No member has volunteered to cook for this meeting.  If interested, please contact Lion Steve Weber by the May 4th meeting so it can be put in the Herald.  If there is no meal, the regular business meeting will be at 7:00 P.M.  If there is a meal, the meeting will be at 7:30 P.M. with the meal at 7:00 P.M.

The 5M Multiple Convention will take place on May 5, 6, and 7 at the Radisson in St. Paul.  If interested in attending, contact Lion President Duane Hass ASAP.

Due to the increase in international dues, our club’s membership dues will increase from $30 to $40 effective July 1st.  At our last Board of Director’s meeting, it was decided that any H.L. member that pays his or hers dues before July 1st, will only have to pay $30 this year.  In order to avoid the increase this year, all H.L. Lion members are strongly encouraged to pay their membership dues before July 1st. You can pay them by attending one of the meetings in the next couple of months or you can mail it to Box 13; Howard Lake, MN 55349.  If you wait after July 1st, you will have to pay $40.

Happy birthday to the following Howard Lake Lion members who are celebrating birthdays in May: Roy Klugow (7); Charles Engels (12); Hazel Oberpriller (14); Doug Bakken (14); Paul Schmitz (16); Curt Levang (17); and Renee Lahr (23).
