THANK YOU
Thanks to all the members who brought food and gifts for our Governor‘s Night/Christmas on December 7th . Also, thanks to the members who brought food for our potluck meal at our December 21st meeting.
Thanks to all the HL Lions members who did a fantastic job on fixing up our new meeting place.
MEETINGS
Our first meeting of the month will be held on Thursday, January 4th at our new Lions hall . Lions Terry and LaNette Thorson will be cooking at this meeting. The meal will be at 7:00 PM and the business meeting will take place at 7:30 PM.
Our second meeting will be take place on Thursday, January 18th at our new meeting place. There will be a Board of Directors meeting at 6:30 P.M. So far, no one has volunteered to cook for this meeting. If there is no meal the meeting will be at 7:00 PM. If you are interested in cooking for this meeting, please let Lion Steve know by January 4th .
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our club will be sponsoring two pancake breakfasts. The first one will be on Sunday, February 11th at our new meeting place. The hours are tentatively scheduled to be from 8:00 AM until noon. The second one will be on Sunday, April 1st (Palm Sunday).
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7th at Memorial Park in Howard Lake.
Good Neighbor Days will take place this year from June 22-24.
The 6th Annual H.L. Lions Golf Tournament will take place at Shadowbrook Golf Course on Saturday , July 14th. This year there will be a pork chop dinner following the tournament.
HOFFMAN CONCERT
The Bruce Hoffman concert is definitely scheduled for Sunday, February 18th. Like last year, there will be two shows. The first show will be at 2:00 PM with the second show at 7:00 PM. The cost of the tickets will be $20 per person at the door and $18 in advance.
MIDWINTER CONVENTION
The 29th Annual Midwinter Convention for District 5M7 will be held January 19-21, 2007 at the Marriott in Bloomington.. The club will pay for one night’s stay. DRUG POSTER CONTEST
The Howard Lake and Waverly Lions recently held their annual Drug Poster Contest to students in the HLWW schools and St. James Lutheran School. The first place winners from each age division will have their posters judged along with many other posters in the district at the MidWinter Convention later this month. Winners of the contest are as follows:
Kindergarten 1st place--Blaine Olson (Humphrey Elementary)

2nd Grade: 1st place--Kaitlyn Marschel (St. James Lutheran)
2nd place--Kendra Anhalt (St. James Lutheran)

2nd place--Maggie Miller (St. James Lutheran)
4th Grade: 1st place--Ben Koosman (St. James Lutheran)
2nd place--Paul Bjork (St. James Lutheran)
5th Grade: 1st place--Gabrielle Gruenhagen (St. James Lutheran)
2nd place--Kaitlyn Fiecke (Humphrey Elementary)
